The Vineyard Row Friendship Table from Hooker draws its character from the working landscapes of Sonoma and Napa — the weathered wood of barrel rooms, the rough-hewn stone of mission architecture, the particular ease of a long outdoor table set for an afternoon that has no intention of ending quickly. At seven feet long and counter height, it's built to gather people around it.

Pecky Hickory veneers give the top its surface story: the wood's natural pocking and grain variation are part of the material's identity, not a flaw to work around. Hooker applies the Sonoma finish across those veneers — a light, open tone that reads like pale oak in natural light, lending the table an airy quality that keeps the room from feeling heavy despite the table's substantial scale. The finish is applied through a multi-step process of up to sixteen stages, including hand-rubbing and padding, which builds the kind of depth and smoothness that's immediately apparent to the touch. The wood distressing — achieved through rasping and sandblasting — adds physical texture that reads as genuinely earned rather than applied.

Dividing the top is an inset of honed gray travertine stone, its surface left matte rather than polished, which brings out the full range of the stone's natural coloration: warm beige, cool gray, cream, and flashes of brown moving through the slab. Honing also makes the surface easier to live with — less reflective, more forgiving of everyday use at the table.

Below the top, hammered metal bar hardware and metal stretchers carry the collection's rustic reference points through the base. The stretcher adds both visual grounding and structural rigidity across a span of this length. Levelers are built in to keep everything sitting flat on uneven floors. The design draws on Spanish mission architecture and the low-key vernacular of Napa bungalows — seeded glass details appear elsewhere in the Vineyard Row collection, and the high-low veneer planking treatment on this table connects it to that broader design language.

A nitrocellulose lacquer topcoat protects the wood finish. For the travertine, sealing before first use is worthwhile — stone this porous will absorb wine and water if left untreated — and periodic re-sealing keeps the surface looking its best over years of use.
