The frame is hardwood maple, double-doweled at every joint, finished in Shagbark on the turned front legs and built-in tapered back legs. That kind of construction is the foundation everything else rests on, and Smith Brothers has been doing it this way for generations.

The upholstery is top-grain leather, hand-burnished to bring out its natural depth and character. A bustle inside back gives the silhouette a soft, gathered quality that reads as quietly traditional — tailored without being stiff. Antique-brass nailheads run along the outside arms and back edges, a detail that rewards a second look without shouting for one.

Under the seat, an independent steel spring unit works alongside Qualux Ultra foam — a proprietary cushioning material Smith Brothers warranties for life.
