The Bremen Collage Recliner from Smith Brothers is a study in considered contrast — warm brown leather wrapping the seat and inside back, where your body actually meets the chair, paired with a cowhide-patterned fabric on the outside arms and back that gives the piece a quietly striking presence from across the room. The inside back is finished with pullover button tufting, a technique that requires hand placement of each button and gives the cushion its characteristic depth and structure. Rubbed bronze nailheads trace the edges, tying the leather and fabric panels together with a finish that feels collected rather than decorated. The legs are turned wood in a Shagbark finish — front legs removable for delivery, tapered back legs built into the frame — and they ground the whole chair in something with a little age and craft to it.
